Ray Optics Lab is an offline-first learning lab. When contacting support, include your device model, iOS version, app version, and the steps that led to the problem.

Import problems

Save a scene in Files before importing. Native .rayoptics/.json data is limited to 1 MB and is checked for supported objects, finite values, geometry, provenance, and forbidden executable-looking or external-resource fields. URL imports require HTTPS and an explicit tap.

Unexpected ray paths

Read the assumptions and “Why did this change?” card first. The app uses a deterministic 2D geometric-ray model with abstract bench units, simplified visual intensity, fixed tolerances, and explicit interaction limits. It is not professional optical-design software or laboratory calibration.

Files and privacy

Scenes stay on the device unless you choose a share destination. Read the privacy policy for the complete data-handling summary.
