Workflow

Start with the display. Keep control of the result.

Every useful measurement starts with explicit scale, probe, zero-reference, and grid calibration—not an opaque automatic guess.

Calibrate the image

Align screen corners, correct perspective, and confirm the divisions and channel reference before converting pixels into samples.

Edit the recovered trace

Adjust masks and continuity for color or monochrome traces, then retain every correction alongside the original source.

Export with context

Share uniformly sampled CSV or JSON plus an annotated source image, calibration, and quality notes when you choose.

The one-trace manual workflow remains available offline. A one-time Pro purchase adds multiple trace channels, reusable calibration presets, and advanced image-derived metrics; it never hides existing projects or exports.

Conservative by design

Automatic extraction awaits representative review.

Synthetic fixtures provide ground truth, while real-image tuning remains conservative until representative owner-reviewed captures establish its limits.

Image-derived metrics

Clear about what the image can support.

Review minimum, maximum, peak-to-peak value, period, frequency, duty cycle, rise/fall time, and pulse width only when the source resolution and calibration support the calculation.

A digitization aid

Never a substitute for the instrument.

The app reads an existing display and never connects electrically to your circuit. Ambiguous, clipped, aliased, hidden, or overlapping traces are flagged for review rather than presented as certain results.

Privacy

Source images stay under your control.

Calibration and digitization are designed to run on-device. Images and waveform projects are not automatically sent to Cognerva; exports leave the app only when you use iOS sharing controls.

Practical limits

Confirm critical values at the source.

Results depend on image resolution, display settings, compression, perspective, glare, trace overlap, calibration, and manual review. Verify any critical measurement against the original instrument.
