Kinemetron
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
Kinemetron is an iPhone app for screening film camera shutter timing. This policy explains what the app accesses, stores, and does not collect.
Microphone access
Kinemetron uses the microphone only after you start an audio measurement. Audio is processed on device to detect shutter transients. Cognerva does not automatically receive or upload microphone recordings. If you explicitly choose Share debug capture, the app creates a WAV recording and JSON sidecar and the iOS share sheet lets you choose where to send or save them.
Camera access
Experimental optical timing uses the rear camera only after you grant permission. Frame luminance is processed on device to estimate a light pulse. Kinemetron does not automatically upload or retain camera video.
Saved measurements
The app stores camera labels, nominal and measured timing, sensor mode, analysis values, and timestamps in local app storage. These records are not synced to Cognerva. If you export CSV data, iOS lets you choose where and how to share it.
No accounts, analytics, ads, or tracking
Kinemetron requires no account and includes no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs. Cognerva does not collect personal data through the app.
Your control
- Stop microphone or camera access by ending the measurement.
- Revoke microphone or camera permission in iOS Settings.
- Share a debug capture only when you choose its destination in the iOS share sheet.
- Delete individual local measurements in the app.
- Deleting Kinemetron removes its local app data from the device.
